“But He endured the suffering that should have been ours, the pain that we should have borne. All the while we thought that His suffering
was punishment sent by God. 5 But because of our sins He was wounded,
beaten because of the evil we did. We are healed by the punishment He suffered,
made whole by the blows He received.” (Isaiah 53:4-5)
For over Four hundred years the Israelites were enslaved in Egypt by Pharaoh. They were oppressed and tormented, toiling day and night under the heavy hands of the Egyptian taskmasters, yet, lived in abject poverty. Then one day, God intervened. At passover God supernaturally delivered them.
The Old- Death
Passover celebration for the Israelites is a reminder of God’s supernatural deliverance from their enslavement in Egypt. Each household celebrates it by feasting on the ‘sacrificial lamb.’ This was the meal Jesus celebrated with His disciples, when He broke the bread for them to eat and poured the wine for them to drink. (Luke 22:19). By this, Jesus signified that His body was going to be broken and His Blood poured out for the cleansing of our sins. Jesus knew that, in few hours from then, He was going to be betrayed, lead away as the spotless sacrificial Lamb of God, to be slain to take away the sins of the world!
The New – LIFE
Jesus celebrated the passover meal with His disciples with joy and intense desire.(Luke 22:15). Because this was the hour He had waited for, it was His purpose for coming to earth. The hour of ending the Old Covenant with endless sacrificial killing of lambs, and sprinkling their blood upon the people, to cover their sins. Jesus as the perfect sacrificial Lamb, established A New and better Covenant. (Luke 22:20). A plan ordained by God before the foundation of the earth was laid. Jesus was the Lamb of God slain from the foundation of the world to restore mankind back to God. (Revelation 13:8). The shed Blood of Jesus now represents our passover, our deliverance from sin and Satan into liberation and New Life in Jesus Christ!!!
Prayer Confession:Thank you Jesus that sin and the devil no longer have dominion over me. I am dead to sin and alive to God in Christ. Therefore, by faith I now put off the old man and put on the new man by renewing my mind daily to who the Bible says I am in Christ. The Word of God is a lamp unto my feet and a light to my path. I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. I will live to my full potential in Christ. I’m a success, victor, and winner in life. Because it is Christ who made me free I can boldly declare I am free indeed! In Jesus name! Amen!
Reflection: "My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me." (Galatians 2:20)
