“Did not You, O our God, drive out the inhabitants of this land before Your people Israel and give it forever to the descendants of Abraham Your friend?” (2 Chronicles 20:7).
Have you ever found yourself in a position where your back is up against the wall with no means of retreat except to watch the enemy, close in on you for the finish? The nation of Judah was surrounded by the enemy forces, three nations, Ammon, Moab and Mount Seir combined forces together to wipe out Judah and take over their land. Jehoshaphat, King of Judah knew He had no army, strength or resources to march the forces against him. As a natural response he became extremely fearful. Of-course who wouldn’t be? Many of us when confronted with unexpected health diagnosis, financial disaster, or any other difficult situation, we allow fear to begin to plague, and play in our minds all the possible negative scenarios that could happen.
Though Jehoshaphat was afraid (2 Chronicles 20:3), but then, he did something WISE, he began recounting the goodness of God, he allowed his mind to flash back on the awesome might act of God in delivering Israel in the past. He knew he could not get out of the problem by his own strength or wisdom, but, he knew where he could go for help. And this was the first step in the right direction! This wise King called his nation to a fast! The whole nation of Judah humbled themselves before God, and as they fasted and prayed, God gave them a divine strategy for the battle. A strategy beyond human reasoning and understanding. The strategy was to Worship God. Singing praises and rejoicing before the the God of Israel. As they did, the Lord completely brought their enemies to ruin and gave their possessions to Judah. A double victory for King Jehoshaphat! (2 Chronicles 20:1-30).
Is the enemy closing in on you? Choose wisdom like Jehoshaphat, take it to the Lord in prayer.
Prayer Confession:Heavenly Father, thank you for every battle you have brought me through. I will not fear for my help comes from you. No forces of the enemy encamped against shall prevail because you Lord are at my side. I have supernatural wisdom and direction in my situation. I am a product of God’s word, not my circumstances. Because the Lord is my helper I have pursued, overtaken and completely taken over the camps of the enemies assigned against me. I will celebrate and rejoice by faith. Thank you for given me the opportunity share my testimony. By faith I declare that my testimony will turn many away from darkness into light, from mourning into rejoicing. In Jesus Name. Amen!
Reflection: "I look up to the mountains— does my help come from there? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth!" (Psalm 121:1-2).
