The Way Up

“And whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.” (Matthew 23:12)

Are you believing God for promotion? Have you been praying and asking God, “When Lord?”, “When will I move forward from this situation?”, “When will I see your promises come to pass?” It is a wise thing to seek the power of God to change our life. However, if we want to experience the power God we must first humble our self, being willing to lay it all down like a child and enter God’s rest. Taking a look at the life of Jesus, all through His life and ministry, He humbled Himself before the Father in all things.  The Bible tells us to do the same, to deny self, not to put our trust in human’s wisdom, success formulas, positive thinking strategies and abilities that are self gratifying, fulfilling fleshly aspirations and desires. (Luke 9:23).

The devil’s strategy is to get us focused on our self, instead of fulfilling God’s will. In order for us to experience the power of God, we need to yield to the Holy Spirit, and allow Him to empower us daily, to live a crucified life. Becoming totally submissive to the will of the Father is a place of ‘Rest’. (Hebrews 4:10). This is the place where we begin to live in the supernatural peace that passes human understanding. (John 14:27).  Beloved, it is the will of God for you to enter into His perfect rest and live a truly blessed life as a seed of Abraham in Christ Jesus. (Genesis 12:2).  Jesus was able to accomplish His mission in life, because He lived and operated from the position of Rest in God. (John 5:30).  God can only entrust supernatural authority to those who are totally submitted to His will.

Prayer Confession: Dear Father, my life is hidden in Christ. My life is not about bringing glory to self but to Jesus, who love me and gave up His life for me, that I can have an everlasting life. Holy Spirit help me to live a crucified life that truly reflects the heart of Jesus. Empower me daily to put to death, fleshly desires and lusts. I surrender my life completely to you Jesus. I lay down my will, aspirations and goals. I now embrace your finished work at Calvary for me. Take me into your perfect rest and teach me to live from your rest. Let my life speak and draw many to your cross. Thank you that my life is blessed, manifesting God’s love and glory in all things and situations.  In Jesus Name. Amen.

Reflection: "After He became a man, He gave up His important place and obeyed by dying on a cross. Because of this, God lifted Jesus high above everything else. He gave Him a name that is greater than any other name.” (Philippians 2:8-9).

I do like the idea that our rest is in him. That we have to rest and give it all to him. Not so easy to do sometimes! I think I have to do it all…how silly. But I am a child, and always will be to him. Thanks be to our Lord who loves and guides me even in my false sense of power.
    Nice to meet you!
