The Power To Overcome

shining dove with rays on a dark

“On the day of Pentecost all the believers were meeting together in one place. 2 Suddenly, there was a sound from heaven like the roaring of a mighty windstorm, and it filled the house where they were sitting. 3 Then, what looked like flames or tongues of fire appeared and settled on each of them. 4 And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other languages, as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability.” (Acts 2:1-4).

Is fear consuming your life and preventing you from stepping out in faith, moving forward and fulfilling your dream?  Let me ask you another question, “If you can physically see God next to you, will you still be fearful? I take a guess the answer is “No!” Now then, let’s stop there for a moment, and let’s quickly revisit the disciples in the Gospel story.  When Jesus was overwhelmed with the agony of going to the cross, the Bible tells us that none of the disciples could watch and pray with Him for even an hour. Even though, they wanted to, and tried to, however, their flesh failed them. (Matthew 26:39-40).  At His trial, none of them stood by His side, as much as they loved Jesus, and wanted to be there for Him. Again, their flesh over powered them, even Peter who loved his Master and previously pledged allegiance even to death. Denied his Lord three times as said by Jesus. (Matthew 26:69-75).

When Jesus Blood was been poured out like a lamb, He was in great discomfort and pain, and as much as the disciples would have loved to be by His side, holding His hand through His darkest moment on earth, the hour of death, there was none to comfort Him. And yet again, they were terribly let down by their carnal nature. (Matthew 27: 27-50). Every single one of the disciples deserted Jesus in His greatest hour of need. The point is this, in our natural  strength, we can not overpower fear because it is a spirit. Fear is a spirit sent by Satan to torment and steal God’s blessings from us. As much as the disciples tried to overcome fear in their natural strength, even with Jesus,  by their side in physical form, they could not!

However, something happened to the disciples that transformed them forever!  What? After they waited in the upper room according to Jesus instruction, they Spirit of Power came into their lives!  As soon as the Holy Spirit came upon them, they became fierce and bold even to the face of death! They received the power to discipline their carnal nature and walk over fear, sickness, diseases, adversity and even death!  Today is Pentecost Sunday. The Holy Spirit desires to come upon you and transform your life like the apostles. He wants to set you free from every limiting fear in your finances, health, home, marriage and more. Don’t let fear stand in your way anymore, welcome the Holy Spirit into your life today!

Prayer Confession: Father I thank you for sending your Spirit. I welcome you Holy Spirit have a free rein in my life. I’m no longer a victim of fear, i have the ability to steer my life forward according to your word by the power of your Spirit. I will live to fulfil my purpose. The righteous are as bold as a lion. I tread upon serpents and scorpions. I walk in supernatural strength and I have victory today and always in my finances, health, my home and every area of life. I have a sound mind, the Holy Spirit is always shedding light on my path through the word of God, and so, my future is bright and secured. Lord, I’m forever grateful and fully conscious of your spirit indwelling presence, glory, power and blessings in my life. Like the apostles, Father let my life manifest the glory of your kingdom everywhere I go on earth. In Jesus Name. Amen!

Reflection:"For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline." (2 Timothy 1:7).
