Armoured With The Truth (Pt 1)

“Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6).

As believers, God has provided us with spiritual armour to strengthen us and also to protect us from the forces of darkness. Dealing with spiritual warfare, in the previous posts,  I have shared about us confronting overwhelming circumstances in the strength of God by taking our eyes of those difficult situations, humbling ourselves before God and exalting God above the problem. Today and in the coming days, I will spend time going through the spiritual armour listed in Ephesians 6:14-18.

Notice that the belt of truth is the first one mentioned by Paul in the list of spiritual armour for equipping us in warfare.  Now then, it is important we bear in mind what the truth is. The Bible says that, Jesus is the way, the Truth and the Life. That tells us then that, The TRUTH is not a religion or set of rules, it is not philosophy, or any opinion mankind holds. The Truth is a PERSON. And that Person is, Jesus Christ the Son of God.

The Book of Romans 13:12-14 says,  we must cast off the works of darkness, we must put on the armour of light, meaning we must put on Jesus Christ. Therefore, in other to be clothed  Christ strength, and to be able to stand against the powers of darkness we must have a personal intimate relationship with Jesus Christ.  Thus, the first step to putting on the strength of God is knowing Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.

Also, notice that the truth is mentioned in connection with ‘Girdle.’ In the natural sense, the girdle is used for holding things up, keep them together, and preventing some items falling out or apart. Similarly, the Word of God as the Truth, is ‘the girdle’ that holds all the Spiritual Armour together and our lives together so that we don’t trip and fall.

So therefore, the first armour we must have in place, is our personal walk with Jesus Christ.  Jesus is the Person who holds all things together. He is the Word  of God (John 1:1). Every truth begins and ends with Him as the Alpha and Omega. (Revelation 1:11). And  He is the Bread of Life, meaning He is everything needed for sustenance in life. ( Matthew 4:4). My Friend, Jesus Christ is the only who can hold your life, family, finances, future and keep your life from falling apart.  How is your relationship with Him? Do you have a personal relationship with Him,  If not, don’t wait another moment, open your heart and receive Him into your life today. Let’s pray:

Prayer Confession: Heavenly Father thank you for sending Jesus Christ to this world to show me the way to you and to die for my sins, so that I can receive your of salvation. Forgive me for all my sins. Jesus come into my life. I turn from doing things my own way, but from now, I hold your Word as the standard of truth for living my life. Teach me your way and guide me in the path of truth as I mediate on your word daily. Thank you Lord for granting me the strength to live and walk in victory in every circumstances of my life. In Jesus name. Amen.

Reflection: "But He replied, It has been written, Man shall not live and be upheld and sustained by bread alone, but by every word that comes forth from the mouth of God." (Matthew 4:4).

  • Beautiful Shade!

  • Hi Shade! I know I’ll just love this series on the armor of God. I really connected to the ‘girdle’ idea. Holding things together…well, that’s the hope anyway!
Having that personal relationship with Christ is the foundation of protection. Without that, we are open to constant attack. Praise be to him to wants that connection, and longs to protect us too.
