“When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future.” (John 16:13).
As God’s children many of us have a misconception of God’s view about us. We mostly look at ourselves in the natural and find it difficult to look beyond how we are now. But God looks at us through the lenses of His Word, He sees us just as Jesus Christ is.
The Bible says we are already made complete in Christ. (Romans 8:17). We are not second born or third born, but one, joint heir with Jesus Christ. As He is so are we now. (1 John 3:1-2). Whether we believe it or not is a different thing, but as far as God is consigned that’s who we are as Born Again Spirit filled believers.
Take for example the disciples of Jesus, none of them looked the part in the natural when Jesus commissioned them. They had all failed the test miserably. Everyone of them deserted Jesus at the most gruesome hours of His life on the earth, His trial and death.
Now, to think of the fact that the job God wanted done was a huge responsibility. This was God’s grand plan for the salutation of the human race! And to think that God will invest such great task in a group of doubting Thomas’ who were full of fear, sounds ridiculous!
The Lord rebuked them for denying Him, and with the same breath sent them out to go and fulfil the GREAT commission! (Matthew 28:19-20). You see, Jesus was not looking at what they possessed, their failures and obvious weaknesses. But, He was looking at who they would be transformed into by His Word under the power of the Holy Spirit! That was why He instructed them to go and wait for the Holy Spirit. (Acts 1:4).
Jesus said in John 16:13-15, that the Holy Spirit will teach and guide us into all the TRUTH through the WORD. And the Bible says the Word of God is sharper than any double edge sword. (Hebrews 4:12). Meaning, if you believe, the Holy Spirit will make you into the TRUTH, that is, who the WORD of God says you are in Christ. But the BELIEVE must come first. (Mark 9:23).
The Scripture says “ The heart is deceitful above all things, and it is exceedingly perverse and corrupt and severely, mortally sick!(Jeremiah 17:9) Amp. The Word of God as a double edge sword cuts both ways, as it deals with demonic forces, it will also expose sins and Satan’s deceptions in us, even things that are secret to us in the deep and hidden place of our hearts. The Holy Spirit with the Word of God will cut through and separate these things from us so that we can be who God says we are in His Word.
The devil works by flesh but God works by faith. The devil wants to take our eyes off God and put it on our natural resources and limitations. He focuses our attention on our past failures, lack and weaknesses. But my friend God wants us to walk by faith and not by sight.
In spiritual warfare, we have to put on the whole armour of God and then learn to take a bold stand, holding on to who God says we are in the WORD, regardless of the circumstances. God did a powerful transformation in the lives of the Apostles, who started out as a bunch of cowards and failures, but today they are recorded as heroes of the faith. The same God can also transform your life and circumstances today. Nothing is impossible, the WORD of God will make you into His TRUTH about you, if you can BELIEVE.
Prayer Confession: Heavenly Father you are a righteous God, and I am an offspring of righteousness, a joint heir with Christ, called to walk in the Word and after the Spirit. Thank you Father that you have not given me the spirit of fear. The Holy Spirit lives in me. He is guiding me in the truth and transforming me, as I continue to meditate and renew my mind with the Word. By faith I am who God says I am. I can do all things through Christ who gives me supernatural strength. My heart is fortified with the Word of God and I am more than a conqueror as I walk by faith and not by sight. In Jesus Name. Amen.
Reflection: "By faith we understand that the worlds [during the successive ages] were framed (fashioned, put in order, and equipped for their intended purpose) by the word of God, so that what we see was not made out of things which are visible." (Hebrews 11:3).
